The CentrePort Canada Initiative is a massive $460 million project to develop an “inland port” around Winnipeg’s airport to serve the intermodal transportation needs of the central North American market.
Chosen for our Design-Build expertise
CentrePort Canada Way is a design-build project between Manitoba’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation and SNC Lavalin Constructors (Pacific) Ltd, to develop a high-speed transportation corridor linking CentrePort to Winnipeg’s Perimeter Highway.
AIL is proud to have been selected to design and supply 10,000 square metres of our MSE Structural Walls and 5,575 square metres of AIL Sound Walls for this project’s interchanges at Saskatchewan Avenue and Carberry.
Two-Stage Precast Walls perform well in poor soil conditions
Due to poor foundation soils, the AIL Engineering Team needed to work very closely with the Ministry’s geotechnical consultants to come up with an appropriate solution. Our Two-Stage Precast Walls were chosen for their ability to handle excessive settlement ranges and still have a precast panel finish. The second stage’s precast panels will feature a graffiti-resistant Fractured Fin texture.
AIL Sound Walls shield residents from noise
To avoid disturbing nearby residents, 1485 m of Tuf-Barrier Reflective Sound Walls will be installed surrounding the job site, at 3 m and 4 m heights. Tuf-Barrier Sound Walls are also graffiti-resistant.
