Unwanted noise from running generators is annoying, especially when next to a hospital. When Fraser Health needed to protect the silence around the new generator at their Burnaby, BC, facility, our Silent Protector (Absorptive) sound barrier system was prescribed.
Fast and flexible sound barrier walls easily contain industrial noise
The project requirements had some very specific challenges for our product and design team. Key among those were:
- Wall/height differentials at the corners
- Technician access doors at the corners
- Base-mounting to a concrete slab and a retaining wall
- Surface-mounting to a concrete blast wall
Our engineering and detailing expertise came into play with the differential heights and the door attachment detailing. We manufactured some custom posts to provide clean joints going around those corners.
In addition, the light weight and flexible nature of our modular system was well-suited for all of the required mounting variations. AIL Sound Walls are frequently mounted to structures like roof slabs or retaining walls and, with the help of some reconfigured mounting hardware, they also adapted well to surface-mount on the concrete blast wall separating the fuel storage area.
Proven to be one of the industry’s top performers, AIL’s Silent Protector sound barrier wall system is constructed with long-lasting PVC, filled with acoustical mineral wool. Our turn-key solutions include: engineering, manufacturing, project management and site assistance.
