Building on our successes with the L200 and L300 Lynnwood Link Extension projects at the northern end of Sound Transit’s LRT network, the AIL Sound Walls team is also very pleased to have been selected to provide sound barrier wall solutions for their southern F200 Federal Way Link Extension — our third project on the growing LRT system.
The F200 project featured 6,823′ of our Silent Protector (Absorptive) sound barrier walls in elevated guideway applications, as the system reaches out another 7.8 miles to the suburban city of Federal Way.
Lightweight PVC sound barrier walls offer a lower installed cost
Like the L200 and L300 projects, Sound Transit is continuing with our lightweight PVC sound barrier walls that offer substantial savings in material and labor. Previously, their Acoustic Panel Spec only allowed for metal noise barrier wall panels on a 4′ stanchion spacing. While AIL Sound Walls have used 8′ panels on all our projects for Sound Transit, they are available in lengths of up to 16′ with our new XL Series.
Contractor pleased with the speed and versatility of our sound barrier walls
This portion of the Seattle LRT network expansion had us working with Kiewit Infrastructure West Co., the design-build general contractor. Kiewit was also part of the Joint Venture partnership on the previous L200 project. Like both the L200 and L300 project teams, Kiewit was equally pleased with the speed and versatility of installing our products with the support of our layout drawings, sequenced deliveries and site assistance.
