The AIL Sound Walls team was selected to design and supply three three-sided rooftop mechanical equipment surrounds for a new Walmart under construction next to a residential area in Kissimmee, Florida. This was our eighth project for Walmart, but our first rooftop application for them.
AIL’s Silent Protector noise wall integrates with existing rooftop framing
In this case, we were adding to a building that was already designed and into its construction phase. The AIL Sound Wall units had to be integrated into the current framing design layout to be secure enough to withstand Florida’s hurricane-force winds.
Good collaboration ensures good outcomes
We were happy to be working once again with Henderson Engineers as the acoustic consultant on the project. We had worked with them on the Cerner Data Center rooftop project as well.
Once the acoustical requirements were confirmed by Henderson, we worked closely with the project architect and structural engineer to come up with the appropriate solution that satisfied all parties. Our manufacturing was expedited to meet the store’s tight deadline for opening.
Follow-ups with contractor and store manager confirmed that they were very happy with the sound barrier system. They were impressed at how easily it went together and its performance has been great, with no noise complaints from the neighbors.
